This program is co-sponsored by the Alabama Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation and Mental Health America in Montgomery.  The Alabama Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and a co-sponsor of this event/program.  The Alabama Department of Mental Health Mental Retardation may award NBCC approved clock hours for events or programs that meet NBCC requirements.  The ACEP maintains responsibility for the content of this event:  is approved as a provider of continuing education in Nursing by the Alabama Board of Nursing; ABNP05150, Expiration Date July 5, 2013; is an approved provider of continuing education for Social Workers in the State of Alabama through the Alabama State Board State Board of Social Work Examiners.  This program offered for 4.5 contact hours (clock hours) and 5 for Nurses.

The “Live Your Life Well program has been designed to explain how striving for recovery from mental illness is multifaceted.  By exploring different areas including physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual we will encourage health care providers to do the same when treating their clients/patients.

Workshop Objectives:  Participants will be able to…

  • Describe somatic diseases that may appear as Psychiatric Disorders, list appropriate screening methods for different diagnoses and list dangers of treating these illnesses as a mental health issue.
  • Assist clients in balancing physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
  • Describe how emotions affect the overall scheme of Mental Health.
  • Use more effective and efficient ways to turn challenges into opportunities in the mental health field.
